Exciting Opportunity: Data Scientist at DTN

Join our dynamic team of data scientists and engage with a wide range of industries such as weather, agriculture, refined fuels, marine applications, and transportation infrastructure. We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to focus on agriculture and weather risks, utilizing weather forecasts, satellite imagery, and related datasets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with domain experts to understand requirements and translate them into actionable data science tasks.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in diverse datasets including weather and satellite data from sources like USDA, NOAA, and NASA.
  • Innovate ways to integrate varied informational resources to fill critical data gaps for problem-solving.
  • Develop and implement machine learning models for classification, localization, prediction, and change detection.
  • Create data visualization tools and dashboards to communicate findings and insights to stakeholders.
  • Analyze satellite data in combination with other data resources and models to extract meaningful insights related to weather impacts and agricultural patterns.
  • Conduct spatiotemporal analyses and build models to forecast weather-related risks such as droughts, floods, and storms, and their agricultural impact.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in satellite imagery analysis, machine learning, and data science techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative and scientific analysis.
  • Proficiency in data science tools and programming languages such as Python (Pandas, Numpy) and JupyterLab.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficiency in preprocessing, classification, change detection and other data analysis techniques across varied sources.
  • Experience with weather or climate data, including meteorological models and remotely-sensed datasets, preferred.
