Your Role: Data Scientist, Go-To-Market

We're seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support our Go To Market (GTM) teams as they expand across product categories and geographic markets. You will collaborate with groups scaling Whatnot’s account management and marketing functions, focusing on supply growth, marketing metrics, logistics, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with GTM and International leads to identify improvements and opportunities using data science methodologies.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of GTM strategies and adapt Whatnot’s tactics for new markets.
  • Create actionable KPIs and produce high-quality dashboards to convey strategic insights.
  • Improve product roadmaps through the analysis of marketplace trends, user behavior, and industry insights.
  • Define and promote best practices within a data-informed culture.

About You

We're looking for intellectually curious and highly motivated individuals to become foundational members of our Data team. You will collaborate with our Category Expansion, Marketing, and Strategy & Operations teams to identify critical business goals, develop deep understandings of them, and design scalable solutions.

The ideal candidate is a critical thinker with strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working in fast-paced environments. Previous background in GTM, marketing, or high-growth startups is highly desirable.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the Data field.
  • 3+ years in Data Analytics & Science supporting GTM, sales operations, marketing, or consulting roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Industry experience applying scientific methods to solve large-scale data problems.
  • Proficiency with data warehouses and big data technologies such as Redshift, Snowflake, Big Query, Presto/Trino, Athena, Spark, DBT.
  • Expertise in SQL for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or R.
  • Experience with time series forecasting, goal setting, and cohort analysis.
  • Knowledge of sales team tools such as Salesforce or Hubspot.
  • Proficiency in business intelligence and visualization tools.
