SpaceX was established on the conviction that a future where humanity is exploring the stars is fundamentally more engaging than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this feasible, with the primary aim of enabling human life on Mars.

DATA SCIENTIST (STARLINK PRODUCT)

At SpaceX we're utilizing our expertise in constructing rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink represents the world's largest satellite constellation and is providing quick, reliable internet to over 2 million users globally. We design, construct, test, and operate all components of the system - thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect in minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings everything together. We've only just begun to realize the potential global impact of Starlink and are seeking top-tier engineers to help maximize Starlink's utility for communities and businesses worldwide.

As a Data Scientist on the Starlink Product Hardware Reliability team, you will be in charge of developing the strategy, key metrics, tools, models, and procedures for assessing the hardware health of over 2 million Starlink Product devices globally. This individual will glean valuable insights from the Starlink Product fleet and work closely with technical and business teams to optimize field hardware reliability. As a data scientist catering to the Starlink Product, you will introduce the latest and greatest machine learning technologies, and transform insights from hardware telemetry into actionable insights and autonomous applications.

  • Develop a long-term vision for scaling up field monitoring processes as the fleet expands from 2M to over 10M
  • Design and implement field monitoring systems and strategies to promptly detect fleet trends and failures as they occur
  • Merge statistical analysis, software, and field telemetry to establish correlations between production data, environmental factors, and field performance
  • Prompt hardware, software and operational changes through root cause and analysis findings
  • Cooperate closely with hardware, software and production teams to maximize reliability across all disciplines
  • Design and validate models as predictors of field hardware health
  • Conduct technical and business analysis trades

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Evidence of ability to deeply understand technical subjects
  • Proven ability to handle ill-defined problem spaces and deliver positive outcomes
  • Self-motivated attitude, enthusiasm, and the ability to communicate effectively across business and technical disciplines
  • Experience in designing and using a relational database (SQL)
