Job Summary:

Highmark Health is seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. Due to specific Department of Defense (DOD) contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens and will undergo a comprehensive background check. Applicants should be based in Pittsburgh and capable of working onsite at least three days per week.

This role centers around developing advanced analytics solutions that enhance business operations. As a data scientist, you will design and implement models and tools using statistical and machine learning techniques to address business needs, support decision-making, and contribute to next-generation projects by collaborating with industry leaders and institutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Liaising directly with business units to comprehend their objectives and demonstrate how data analytics can boost their performance.
  • Designing and executing analytics using a variety of data sources, ensuring each analysis is accurate, well-documented, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Enhancing implementation strategies to effectively integrate analytical solutions within business processes.

Education & Experience:

  • Required: Master’s Degree in Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer and Information Science, Engineering or a closely related field or Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in Data Science.

Skills:

  • Strong capability in SQL, BigQuery, Python, and R for data analysis.
  • Proven experience in statistical analysis and implementation of machine learning models such as regression, clustering, and neural networks.
  • Effective communication skills for delivering insights through written reports, presentations, and data visualizations.

Physical & Travel Requirements:

  • Travel between work sites occasionally required.
  • Minimal physical exertion; ability to lift weights up to 10 pounds regularly.
