The Search Product Analytics and Experimentation team is seeking a seasoned product analyst with strong product intuition, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for using big data and insights to guide product and business decisions. The ideal candidate will possess robust technical and analytical skills to analyze large data sets and extract actionable insights. The candidate will have exceptional collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and present insights to promote product innovations and user growth. The Search Product Analytics and Experimentation team is a part of the Yahoo Research, Analytics, and Data organization and is responsible for use case and experimental analysis for Yahoo Search. We are passionate about data, insights, and excellent product experiences. We provide data-driven insights to influence product and business decisions that promote user growth and product adoption. We enforce logging standards for high-quality data and accurate data measurements. We design, analyze, and review A/B tests and provide insights to build product experiences that users love. Your Day: You will collaborate with product teams to understand business problems, frame the problem into questions that can be answered through data analysis, formulate analysis plans, analyze the data and present actionable insights. Conduct ad-hoc data mining and statistical analysis to understand user behavior, user engagement, and product performance and provide actionable insights to drive data-informed product and business decisions. Drive data logging and instrumentation standards to ensure data is captured with high quality and measurements are accurate. Deep dive into metric and data anomalies to identify the root cause. Work closely with product teams providing guidance on A/B test design and evaluation. Extract data using Big Query and Hive from large data systems, use analytical tools, apply statistical methods for data analysis, and extract actionable insights. Create data visualizations and build Looker Dashboards to present insights to stakeholders. Communicate your findings effectively and efficiently with product partners and executives to drive product and business decisions. Drives the development and execution of measurement, and reporting which accurately reflects business results and informs future decision making. You Must Have: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Economics. 2+ years of experience analyzing large, multi-dimensional data sets and extracting insights into actionable solutions. Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Big Query. Experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL. Experience with data analysis tools such as Google Data Studio, Looker, Tableau, Excel. Ability to tell compelling, data-driven stories based on large, complex data sets. Identifying, quantifying and resolving data discrepancies to ensure high-accuracy reporting. Experience with Experimentation Frameworks for A/B Testing and MultiVariate Testing, Test design, and measurement. Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, and business acumen combined with the ability to collect and organize data, analyze and formulate insights, present and deliver recommendations effectively to influence product and business decisions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Curious and extremely passionate about data and insights. Highly motivated, self-starter results-driven, and a team player. The compensation for this position ranges from $111,000.00 - $231,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
