Profluent, a pioneering AI-first protein design company located in Berkeley, CA, is actively seeking a dedicated Data Scientist with a specialization in Laboratory Informatics to join our dynamic team. This role provides a unique opportunity to be part of shaping the future of AI-driven protein design technologies while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of experts in fields such as machine learning, protein engineering, and cell biology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop computational strategies to support various experimental biology workflows such as guide RNA and primer design.
• Create robust software solutions for seamless integration of experimental data into platforms like Benchling.
• Build and maintain relational data models that accurately represent experimental processes.
• Utilize bioinformatics tools to analyze Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.
• Ensure optimal data management practices as a proficient Data Steward.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of code and project outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• At least three years of research or lab experience in academia or the biotech industry.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with LIMS such as Benchling.
• Strong background in data analysis pertaining to molecular biology.
• Knowledge of Linux and version control systems like Git.
• A meticulous and organized approach, thriving in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with high-throughput data and lab automation technologies.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational data model design.
• Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Skills in data visualization tools.
