About the Team

The Decision Science team, part of the Product and Engineering Department, provides data-based guidance to shape product strategy through quantitative research projects. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Business teams, surfacing critical topics, identifying innovative practices, and developing high-impact solutions for exceptional user experiences.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Data Scientist to help define and measure quantitative Product/UX goals in collaboration with Product Managers, Qualitative Researchers, Designers, and Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Drive quantitative research and statistical modeling to enhance user experience and product results.
  • Leverage data to uncover actionable insights of strategic importance to UserTesting and practical value to customers.
  • Communicate analyses and results in accessible, relevant, and meaningful ways to diverse audiences.
  • Create and support a data-driven culture among decision-makers.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of research methodology and statistical techniques, including experimentation, statistical inference, and machine learning.
  • Experience in advanced data analytics in a business, academic, or related context (e.g., high-tech, market research, management consulting, operations research, finance).
  • Ability to explain the value of different analytic methods and data analysis outputs to non-technical audiences, including executives and managers.
  • A combination of broad perspective with a strong focus on details.
  • Deep curiosity and a love for problem-solving.
  • Bachelor's degree with relevant industry experience.
  • Professional experience in applied research settings or product analytics, preferably in Consumer or B2B software.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python (or R) for data analysis and visualization, version control (git).
  • Experience or knowledge in one or more of: user experience research, product analytics, applied behavioral science, applied machine learning (regression models, clustering, time series prediction).
