DESE Research, Inc. is actively seeking a skilled and motivated Data Scientist to enhance our Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) team. About the Role

As a Data Scientist, you will work closely with SCRM analysts to organize and analyze findings, especially focusing on vulnerabilities identified through SBOMs and historical data. Your main responsibilities will include developing data-driven solutions, conducting statistical analyses, and assisting in the creation of detailed reports. This role is critical in identifying threats and risk areas for the Army's weapon systems, using SCRM vendor and component analysis as per DoD 5200.44 and DoD 5200.39 guidelines.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply interdisciplinary methods, algorithms, and research techniques to extract knowledge from structured and unstructured data.
  • Perform analysis of data systems including Big Data, and conduct statistical analysis.
  • Evaluate data and algorithms to enhance performance.
  • Assist with data modeling and data virtualization.
  • Perform SBOM creation, validation, and analysis.
  • Ensure secure architecture and design within DevOps frameworks.
  • Conduct static and dynamic code analysis and participate in digital forensics investigations when applicable.
  • Write security assessment and evaluation reports following NIST SP 800-37 guidelines.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Knowledge of advanced machine learning, data science techniques, and mathematical approaches.
  • Proficiency with current operating systems and programming languages.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Experience with Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Advanced Analytics, and databases like Neo4j, MongoDB, ArangoDB, SQL, and NOSQL.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python, R, Julia, TensorFlow, CUDA, JavaScript, Scala, Java, Unix/Linux, C, and C++.
  • Applied Mathematics experience in Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, and Partial Differential Equations.
  • Knowledge of modern SBOM formats such as CycloneDX.
  • Experience with SBOM analysis software like Dependency-Track.
  • Knowledge of Government frameworks like DoD 8570.01-M and DoD 8140.03-M.
  • Experience writing security assessment and evaluation reports.
