Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design, develop, test, and implement data pipeline processes for generating machine learning models, analytical tools, and reporting solutions within our surgical imaging business. You will play a critical role in extracting value from our central data lake, with a deep understanding of data characteristics and business processes.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal data teams to build predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning models using field service and equipment data to enhance business efficiency.
  • Work closely with project managers and data experts to develop end-user services utilizing AWS native technologies.
  • Utilize knowledge of data science, AI, ML, statistical modeling, best practices, and programming to deliver high-quality analytic features on AWS products within the planned schedule.
  • Lead research and evaluation of emerging technologies, industry trends, and market trends to support development and operational activities.
  • Drive data engineering standards and meet all business/project metrics.
  • Coordinate Technical Design Reviews (Concept, Development, and Evaluation TDR’s).
  • Ensure privacy and security controls are in place for sensitive data, restricting access based on data consumption for functional users, data team members, and applications.
  • Work with product owners and business leaders to understand market needs and quickly translate them into demonstrable applications and working prototypes.
  • Generate reports, annotated code, and other documentation to communicate your work and outcomes effectively.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a STEM-related field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience (as a data scientist, data analyst, data engineer, software engineer, or related discipline).

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with R and Python programming languages.
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing techniques and GPT models.
  • Experience with AWS native services such as Kafka, Kinesis, S3, CloudWatch, Step Functions, Lambda, Spark, Glue/EMR, Elastic Search/Kibana, Athena, SageMaker, Redshift.
  • AWS certification(s), preferably AWS Cloud Data Engineer.
  • Experience with data reporting platforms like PowerBI, Spotfire, Tableau, Streamlit.
  • Proficiency in writing SQL scripts for Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or HiveQL.
  • Exposure to ETL data processes and machine data.
  • Experience with newer technologies and driving pilots and product evaluations.
  • Willingness to explore alternate technologies and innovative approaches to problem-solving.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and resource management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional, global teams.
  • Knowledge of technical topics such as APIs, data transfer, scalability, and data security.
  • Ability to analyze and select the best technology for each business use case.
