Starting salary for this role is £38,620, inclusive of a Market Premium Payment (MPP), with our pay and grading structure set to evolve further in 2024.

This role requires completion of a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

About the Role: Data Scientist

Join the Data Solutions team and contribute to diverse areas such as cloud computing, high-performance computing, and more. We are looking for professionals equipped with advanced skills in AI and machine learning to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and improve AI and ML tools to support fusion energy experiments.
  • Engage in data science research, exploiting the synergy between AI and high-performance computing at the Exascale.
  • Prepare reports and present findings both internally and externally, actively contributing to the scientific community.

Essential Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Fortran.
  • Experience with UNIX and AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with various machine learning techniques and applications.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Willingness to travel for short periods within the UK and Europe.
  • Active participation in relevant events, enhancing the adoption of new technologies.
