Job Description

About the Role:

We're looking for a highly driven and technically adept Databricks Administrator to join our team. In this position, you will be crucial in deploying, managing, and optimizing the Databricks platform, ensuring smooth integration and operation within our cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy applications on the Azure Databricks platform and provide continuous technical support and solutions.
  • Create and manage workspaces, users, groups, and workspace storage, implementing best practices for workspace settings.
  • Configure and maintain Databricks solutions, including access control, cost management, performance management, and application gateways.
  • Ensure solid backup strategies are in place and uphold the platform's integrity.
  • Manage compute resources, including clusters, Databricks SQL warehouses, MLflow model serving, and orchestration resources.
  • Administer the platform proactively to optimize performance, utilization, and deliver infrastructure guidance.
  • Coordinate with dependent infrastructures, such as AWS services, to integrate and leverage Databricks capabilities effectively.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated expertise with Azure Databricks and a good understanding of AWS services.
  • Evident experience in managing cloud-based data platforms and infrastructure.
  • Strong documenting skills to support and explain technical solutions.
  • The ability to guide solutions independently while supporting a collaborative development team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the capability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. This foundational education provides the necessary technical background.

Master’s Degree (optional) in Data Science or Big Data Analytics. A higher degree can offer advanced understanding of data analytics and management.

Recommended Certifications:

Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark: Validates the ability to use Spark for developing data engineering solutions.

Databricks Certified Professional Data Scientist: Demonstrates expertise in data science and machine learning on the Databricks platform.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate: Since Databricks is often used with Azure, this certification confirms skills in Azure data science solutions.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate: Useful for those managing Databricks on the Azure platform, this certification covers all aspects of cloud administration.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Data Analytics: For those who will integrate Databricks with AWS, these certifications validate skills in AWS cloud and analytics services.
