Are you ready to enhance the efficiency of high-energy physics computations on a global scale? CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to join our Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) project team.

Job Description

As part of our team, your role will be pivotal in developing, operating, and supporting the CPU/GPU benchmark service. This role involves maintaining and enhancing the services crucial to benchmarking activities relied on by researchers worldwide.

Your Responsibilities

  • Maintain seamless operation of essential services using technologies like Puppet, GitLab CI/CD, ActiveMQ, Logstash, OpenSearch, Kibana, Grafana, and Docker containers.
  • Contribute to the development of the HEP benchmark software stack, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Provide expert technical support in the benchmark area to the WLCG user community.

Your Profile

  • Proficient in object-oriented software design in a Linux environment with Python as the primary programming language.
  • Experienced with monitoring and data analytics tools such as OpenSearch, Hadoop/Spark, Kibana, and Grafana.
  • Expertise in DevOps practices, including CI/CD tools, test automation, and deployment methodologies.
  • Understanding of GPU hardware and performance metrics.
  • Fluency in English.

Eligibility Criteria

  • National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • Maximum of two years professional experience post-graduation in Software Engineering or related field at the time of application.
  • Holders of Bachelor's or Master's degree relevant to the field.
  • Applicants should not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
  • PhD holders are not eligible for this role.
