Position Summary

Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is on the lookout for a proficient and experienced Director of Data Analytics to lead our data-driven initiatives. This leadership position demands expertise in leveraging data to address business challenges and drive growth. The successful candidate will communicate the benefits of data utilization to Sony group companies' business teams through demonstrable business use cases, aiding Sony's transformation into a data-centric enterprise.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and inspire a team of data analysts to harness data for business success.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members to enhance their professional growth.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Develop and implement a data analytics strategy that aligns with business goals and objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize analytics initiatives to deliver significant business value.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into actionable analytics initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders across Sony group companies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business teams, providing insights based on data analysis.
  • Effectively communicate the advantages of data utilization to business stakeholders.

Analytics Community Development

  • Create and lead an analytics community to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration among data analysts.
  • Organize community meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance team skills and capabilities.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the analytics community.

Qualifications for the Position

Extensive Experience

  • 10+ years in data analytics and business domains, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in leveraging data for business insights and outcomes for at least three years.
  • Experience consulting with stakeholders to understand their business models, objectives, and challenges that analytics can support.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics methodologies, tools, and techniques.

Team Leadership and Management

  • Proven ability to build and manage high-performing, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Strong ability to establish and maintain relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex data insights clearly.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in data handling tools such as SQL, and experience with BI tools like Tableau or Power BI for at least three years.
  • Ability to understand and explain business implications of SQL code and data sets.

Business Domain Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of the gaming, music, and entertainment industries.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific data sources, metrics, and trends.
  • Ability to apply domain knowledge to drive data-driven strategies and initiatives.
