Role Responsibilities

  • Support business units with timely insights and data products, optimizing decisions across Product Management, UX, Technology, Marketing, and Merchandising.
  • Collaborate with leadership in various functional areas (e.g., Product Management, UX, Technology, Digital Merchandising, Marketing) to shape and execute product roadmaps.
  • Influence peers, technology partners, and business leaders to advance data foundations, analytics capabilities, and mathematical applications.
  • Manage multiple resources and analytic projects simultaneously to ensure timely, quality, and impactful completion.
  • Promote the use of analytics and data science across the organization.
  • Democratize data insights, deliver self-service tools, and enable partners to make quicker, informed decisions.
  • Present executive-level business cases that effectively communicate the team's contributions.
  • Lead in experimental design and test & learn initiatives.
  • Translate company strategy into analytic workstreams supporting the business.
  • Enhance the team’s capabilities by identifying problems, developing solutions, and delivering results.
  • Lead a team of BI professionals and statistical analysts, providing strategic project guidance, and fostering the development of Target's future leaders.
  • Mentor team members focused on modeling, reporting, and analytics to deliver user-centric, high-quality results.
  • Create an environment encouraging skill development and career growth for data and analytic professionals through added responsibility and value contributions.
  • Offer thought leadership on how to measure business areas from data collection through application, ensuring accountability for results against goals and objectives.
  • Effectively communicate and educate business leaders using data, insights, testing, and measurement plans.

About You

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8+ years of experience delivering analytics and developing BI solutions, including analysis, design, coding, testing, and report building across diverse domains.
  • 2+ years of leadership, management, and team mentoring experience.
  • Strong executive-level client-facing skills and the ability to communicate complex analytical concepts confidently to a non-technical executive audience.
  • Comprehension of the Product model and ability to lead an Agile team.
  • Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem and data visualization tools (DOMO, Tableau, PowerBI), and automation tools.
  • 6+ years of experience with Web Data (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, or similar) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Proficiency in designing and reporting A/B testing, MS-Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, designing algorithms, and mathematical concepts.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Java/Scala, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong analytical skills, including model development, hypothesis design and testing, and the ability to teach analytical concepts.
  • Experience leading complex BI projects, involving various business stakeholders and BI professionals.
  • Experience building data governance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to learn new tools and technologies.
