Job Description: The Opportunity

Our Global Data Governance team at Manulife is expanding its mandate to include data quality management. We are seeking an experienced leader to shape this new function and drive the adoption of a comprehensive data quality framework, methodologies, and supporting technologies across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the global deployment of a data governance agenda to build trust and maximize data utilization.
• Develop and refine a global data quality framework, driving its adoption through playbooks, accelerators, and training for the relevant partners.
• Influence data governance leaders across the organization to secure collaboration and sponsorship for data quality initiatives.
• Analyze business data to identify critical elements and establish metrics that link data quality to business value.
• Address high-priority data quality issues from identification through resolution.
• Design global data quality metrics and oversight mechanisms to ensure targeted outcomes through the Data Governance program.
• Promote a data-driven culture through data literacy programs and organized training sessions and workshops.
• Collaborate with Technology teams to support the adoption of data quality technologies in the Azure Cloud and on-prem applications.
• Act as a liaison between the Global Data Governance team and Segment Data offices, ensuring data quality requirements are well defined and communicated.
• Continuously innovate and improve data governance practices, exploring and presenting solution alternatives for optimized outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data governance and data management experience in a large multinational organization, with 5+ years in progressive leadership roles.
• Experience across geographies and business lines; financial and insurance industry experience preferred.
• Proven influence and communication skills with senior technology and business leaders.
• In-depth knowledge of data governance concepts and technologies, with hands-on experience in leading data quality software.
• Expertise in creating compelling business cases for data-related initiatives.
• Familiarity with data architecture concepts and Cloud technology.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to lead task forces and achieve results in a matrixed environment.
• Experience in data wrangling, analytics, and AI/ML technologies is a plus.
• Training and experience in Agile techniques and the product approach.
• Ability to translate non-technical user requests into complex technical solutions.
• Driven, curious, and motivated to navigate a global matrixed organization.
