Job Description

Locus Robotics is currently looking for a Director, Machine Vision & Robotics, for its Advanced Products Group (APG). The APG is an innovative, cross-functional team that assesses product opportunities with 2-4-year roadmaps using emerging technologies.

In the role of Director, Machine Vision and Robotics, you will design vision solutions for robotic control and build a high-performance team, deploying inventive technology to address real-world logistic challenges.

The role is based out of our Wilmington, MA office. Other locations include the Kitchener, ON area or it can be remote in the contiguous US or Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build classification models and supporting architectures for object identification, segmentation, and grasping.
  • Optimize models to limited resource platforms with obligatory high performance.
  • Cooperate with internal and external partners in development and research, making full use of available expertise.
  • Evaluate and assist potential partners in implementing external tools and technologies.
  • Contribute to defining scope requirements and feasibility for future robotic applications.
  • Create and refine prototype designs to progressively enhance performance.
  • Help key stakeholders understand the abilities and limitations of AI Systems.
  • Work interdepartmentally with other teams to ensure a successful product deployment path.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s or PhD level degree in machine vision, computer science, data science, or a relevant subject.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience using image-centric deep learning to solve robotics issues.
  • Expertise in the fields of Machine Vision, Sensing, Point Cloud analysis and their application to robotics control.
  • Substantial experience with techniques involving Object Detection, Image Classification, Convolutional / Recurrent Neural Networks, and Hyperparameter Tuning.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and C++ programming, including Pandas, Numpy, SKLearn and PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Proficient experience in ROS (Robot Operating System) and Linux.
  • Knowledge of MLOps and associated technologies for developing, maintaining, and deploying models.
  • Familiarity with software version control services (such as Git).
  • Experience with project management and team leadership.
