Job Description

As an Early Career Data Scientist at WSP, you will be immersed in local technical activities including the collection, interpretation, and management of data crucial for project analysis, market research, and logistic operations. Under general supervision, your role will involve generating critical documentation, ensuring quality standards, and applying statistical and machine learning methods to optimize business solutions and enhance the customer experience.

Your Impact

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assisting in data collection, compilation, and analysis using various sources such as field work, financial reports, and computer-generated data.
  • Applying analytical techniques to identify data-analytics problems and opportunities.
  • Creating accurate and concise reports with data visualizations to summarize research findings.
  • Contributing to the design and development of innovative models that improve project outcomes and client satisfaction.
  • Participating responsibly in project triage and delivery to meet timelines and objectives effectively.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Data Analysis, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Up to 1 year of relevant experience post-graduation in data science or analysis.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools like Tableau, and big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark.
  • Proficient in SQL and familiar with data management and exploratory data analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills with a capability to articulate complex data clearly.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and a strong mathematical foundation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active participation in professional practice organizations is considered an asset.
