About the Role:

Your mission at Climeworks is to combine an understanding of energy/power markets and modeling expertise to play a key role in developing and executing our energy strategy. This pivotal role involves powering, optimizing, and enabling the success of our Direct Air Capture (DAC) facilities across various geographic regions.

You will be responsible for:

• Implementing electricity market forecast modeling, including validation and analysis of third-party forecasts.
• Conducting sensitivity analyses and developing forecasts for both electricity generation fleet and pricing.
• Engaging in scenario-based analysis to refine our energy market strategies and forecast models.
• Modeling and forecasting the carbon intensity of electricity grids to manage and strategize carbon intensity reduction.
• Collaborating with third-party market forecast providers to enhance our market understanding and support strategic decisions.
• Maintaining and continuously adapting electricity market models relevant to project sites and strategic exploration.
• Supporting the ongoing development and optimization of DAC technology from an energy market perspective.

Requirements:

To excel in this role, you should have:

• A university degree in Engineering or Economics, with additional education in system modeling.
• Extensive experience in electricity market modeling and strong professional programming skills.
• Thorough knowledge of electricity and/or thermal generation technologies and their economic impacts.
• The ability to tackle complex tasks and make multi-criteria decisions independently within a dynamic work environment.
• Capability to work in small teams and cooperate across multidisciplinary contexts.
• A strong desire to develop and implement strategies for complex market and technical challenges.
• Excellent communication skills in English and readiness for occasional travel.
