As an Engineering Analyst specializing in AdSpam, you will collaborate with various cross-functional teams to address the most challenging issues threatening user safety. Utilize your technical expertise, data analysis skills, and strategic thinking to protect users and partners from abuse across Google products such as Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 1 year of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • 2 years of experience with one or more of the following languages: SQL, R, Python, and/or C++.
  • 1 year of experience with machine learning systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

About the Role

As part of our Trust & Safety team, your primary responsibility will be to devise strategies to outsmart adversaries by developing data-driven insights, automating processes, and engineering features for machine learning model improvements. Collaborating with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Policy, Sales, and Review teams, you will work on improving review operations, identifying new trends in foundational fraud, automating processes, and devising scalable enforcement solutions for non-compliant publisher inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced statistical methods to large complex data sets to analyze the impact of abuse on the Android ecosystem.
  • Perform fraud and spam investigations using various data sources, identify product vulnerabilities, and drive anti-abuse experiments to prevent abuse.
  • Work with engineers and stakeholders to improve workflows through process improvements, automation, and anti-abuse system creation.
  • Conduct complex fraud investigations using data, identify gaps in current defenses, explore/experiment with new signals, and develop solutions for scalable enforcement on non-compliant publisher inventory, focusing on Android.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Trust and Safety teams to prevent abuse by changing policies and closing product loopholes.
