Job Description

We are searching for a technically adept, experienced Engineering Manager who has a passion for people, to join us in our Data Engineering competence area within the AI, Analytics & Data Domain. The area supports all our brands globally to create, structure, protect, and ensure data is accessible, understandable and of great quality. We work in an agile framework, where we are organized in delivery fields per business sector such as customer, sales, production, etc., where business use cases are implemented via programs. You will supervise all Data Engineers (about 20-25), both employees and consultants for one of the delivery vertical. 

You will ensure that we employ the best people with the right knowledge at the right time, to create and manage first-class data processing capabilities fused with engineering excellence. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Staff management: Hiring, onboarding, training, developing, coaching, and building the team. 
  • As a staff manager, you will be involved in the development and growth of your team members (both consultants and employees), providing vision and clarity on their journey. 
  • Responsible for performance management and reviews for their employees and budget planning, rolling forecasting, financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders and navigate global, complex data structuring, and flow. 
  • Contribute to the strategy for technology, and structure to elevate our Data Engineering practices. 
  • Provide clear prioritization of new business needs vs. maintenance of current Data Engineering estate. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to "get things done" at scale while ensuring a fun, inclusive, and healthy environment. 
  • Ensure new functionality is available in accordance with industry best practices and H&M Standards and Guardrails. 
  • Ensure our vendors are performing up to our expectations, resolving any impediments.

Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager with the necessary leadership skills to nurture and develop our engineering practices coupled with in-depth technical knowledge of Data Engineering.  

Essential Qualifications and Experience: 

  • An agile and product-driven mindset, with a proven record of delivering high-quality solutions.
  • A deep understanding of Data and its flow, with proven work experience in a global context.
  • A passion for Data with evident experience in building a successful community of practice. 
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence. 
  • A demonstrable track record in stakeholder management at both executive and operational levels. 
  • Full proficiency in spoken and written English. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster and maintain relationships at all levels within the organization. 
  • Solution-oriented mindset, with a proactive approach to challenges and a continuous improvement mentality. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to foster a strong team culture where people collaborate and grow together. 
  • Experience with performance management, salary review, budget planning, rolling forecasting, financial reporting.
