Job Opportunity: Software Engineering / Computer Science Student

We are seeking a passionate Software Engineering/Computer Science Student to join our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Kanata office. This 12 or 16-month Co-Op opportunity begins in September 2024. As a student member of our software team, you will develop and test software for the Dextre Deployable Vision System (DDVS), a multi-sensor system utilized on the ISS for external inspection and incoming vehicle tracking.

Responsibilities

• Implement specific software tasks as provided by senior developers, including new development, optimizing existing code, and fixing bugs.
• Perform general software functional and integration testing.
• Assist in writing software documentation, including software design, test procedures, and user manuals.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent program.
• Proficient in C++ under Linux and Windows, MS Office suite, and Visual Studio.
• Good understanding of Object Oriented Design.
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desirable Skills

• Prior internships related to Computer Science.
• Experience or knowledge of 3D sensors and 3D data.
• Experience with programming and debugging embedded systems.
• Familiarity with Python, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, QT, and Jenkins.
• Knowledge of communication/network protocols such as serial (RS-422, USB) and TCP/IP.
• Familiarity with third-party libraries such as Boost and OpenCV.

Special Considerations

Successful candidates must obtain and maintain security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessments for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
