Job Description

Boeing Research and Technology is actively seeking an Experienced Manufacturing and Automation Engineer to join our Advanced Production Systems organization in Munich, Germany. The team spearheads the development of cutting-edge production and assembly systems to enhance safety, quality, performance, and cost efficiency.

Our organization also supports production and sustainment for enterprise-wide customers across multiple functions. The role involves collaborating on various projects with suppliers and research partners throughout Europe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with different airplane programs to develop requirements and test concepts in a lab environment.
  • Develop processes and automated in-process monitoring systems.
  • Coordinate research activities with subcontractors and partners.
  • Work on industrial integration of research results.
  • Develop requirements for production systems.
  • Collaborate with external vendors for the design and integration of production systems, including robotic cells.
  • Travel to vendor sites to support and collaborate on testing.
  • Document and publish results to drive standards across the enterprise.
  • Write project proposals in both German and English.
  • Write reports and present results in both German and English.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong experience in production engineering (Material and Process Engineer).
  • 3+ years of relevant working experience.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree, or equivalent, in a related field such as Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with assembly processes and in-process monitoring.
  • Research and project lead experience.
  • Intermediate or higher level of English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace background.
  • Experience with machining, riveting, and drilling processes.
  • Experience with drilling processes and fastener systems.
  • Experience with applying machine learning in practice.
  • Experience with mechatronics and control systems.
  • Experience with optical inspection systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++.
  • Intermediate or higher level of German.

Additional Information

This position is based in Munich, Germany, and does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must have current legal authorization to work in Germany, as Boeing will not obtain immigration and labor sponsorship.
