The Role: Founding Applied AI Engineer at Ottobooks

As our first-ever full-time AI engineer, you'll spearhead the creation and deployment of our AI capabilities. You'll translate cutting-edge AI advances into real-world products that simplify and enhance accounting practices. Your expertise will primarily focus on technologies like OCR, Document Understanding, Named Entity Recognition, and NLP. By working closely with our founders and design partners, you'll convert innovative ideas into viable, scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with team members and design partners to enhance our platform’s ability to integrate and launch AI solutions.

- Assess and utilize both open-source and proprietary AI models to address everyday accounting challenges.

- Establish and track metrics to assess and refine the performance of AI models in production settings.

- Work alongside engineers to develop robust data pipelines for model fine-tuning, gathering user feedback, and monitoring performance metrics.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in developing AI-powered products, with a preference for expertise in NLP.

- Over 5 years of software engineering experience, ideally in Python (significant academic projects considered).

- Proficiency in managing live AI models and a strong understanding of metrics and measurement strategies.
