About Matroid Matroid’s mission is to help computers visually understand the world. With a "no programming required" product, Matroid gives many people access to computer vision technology. Our users can easily deploy state-of-the-art deep neural networks either on cloud or on-premise. At Matroid, you'll have the chance to work directly with our founder and CEO, Reza Zadeh, and an impressive engineering team. You'll be given significant projects to work on immediately, developing key features like visual search, semantic segmentation, tailored object tracking, model interpretability, video summarization, and the infrastructure necessary to manage complex machine learning tasks. Matroid was founded in Palo Alto in 2016 by Stanford Professor Reza Zadeh Ph.D. To date, Matroid has received a total investment of $33.5 million from NEA, Energize Ventures, and Intel Capital. We are hiring a competent full-stack JavaScript engineer to design and implement new features for our computer vision platform. Being part of the Matroid product team, you'll have the chance to determine the functionality and aesthetics of our platform, while also contributing to a working environment that encourages personal growth. Over time, your responsibilities within the team will expand in accordance with your developing interests and skills. You'll be based at our new office in downtown Palo Alto, a mere five-minute walk from the Caltrain station. What you’ll be doing - Design and develop original features for a unique computer vision platform. - Discover and implement new technologies and industry best practices into our growing team. - Enhance website performance on both client and server sides. - Use user feedback to improve and refine the product. - Create enhanced visualizations for outputs from computer vision models on video streams and images. - Ensure the operational scalability of our platform. How you’ll be doing it - You will be an active member of a top-tier, multidisciplinary engineering team. - You will operate in a collaborative yet autonomous environment that isn't hampered by excessive meetings or administration. - Almost everything you build will impact real-world users, and you will keep this in mind when setting the quality standards on your work. - You’ll be encouraged to think creatively with the potential for your ideas to be implemented. - You'll have direct contact with customers to refine your features based on their feedback. - You’ll be engaging with modern technologies such as React, Node.js, MongoDB, Docker, and Kubernetes. - You will continually learn and grow your skills by delving into new technologies and the world of computer vision. What you’ll bring to the table - Proficient in modern JavaScript development; it's okay if you don't know every JavaScript trick. - A self-starter capable of deciding what needs to be done, then designing, building, and testing new features. - Comfortable working across the stack, potentially tweaking a user interface and optimizing a database query in the same day. - A knack for design and understanding of what makes a user interface intuitive and delightful. - Ability to demonstrate that you're intelligent, analytical, and a fast learner. - No strict requirements on your background, but you should have technical acumen. - It's advantageous if you have experience in areas relevant to a computer vision startup: data visualization, scaling web applications, DevOps, etc. - You should be willing and eligible for security clearance up to TS/SCI. What we offer in return - Competitive salary and equity. - Continual involvement in intellectually stimulating challenges. - Gym membership reimbursement. - Daily free meals, snacks, and caffeine. - Full coverage for medical, dental, and vision insurance. - Flexible working schedule for work-life balance. - Budget for any hardware you need to be most effective at your job. - Access to learning resources about the cutting-edge of software engineering and computer vision.
