Job Opportunity: Game Data Engineer

People Can Fly is searching for an experienced Game Data Engineer to join our Game Analytics team. Your role will focus on creating a state-of-the-art game analytics platform and tools to enhance player experiences in our games. As a Game Data Engineer, you'll design scalable data systems, understand various data from client telemetry to gameplay, and convert this raw data into actionable insights.

You will collaborate with analysts, game designers, and engineers to build experiences that resonate with players. Your responsibilities include developing two out of three Game Analytics cornerstones: Tracking and Reporting, and implementing KPI dashboards to support strategic and operational decisions across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Implement high-quality data pipelines and ETL processes with product owners and tech leads.
  • Partner with analytics teams to create tools that offer actionable insights into key business metrics and optimize data solutions.
  • Build efficient data models for faster data processing and transformations at scale.
  • Develop API integrations with internal systems and third-party data sources.
  • Gather requirements and translate them into clean code and data warehouse designs.
  • Collaborate across a multidisciplinary team of analysts, designers, and engineers.
  • Advocate for data engineering practices organization-wide, leveraging your strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in business intelligence and data engineering, including data warehousing and operations.
  • Genuine interest in pursuing a career in video game analytics.
  • Familiarity with computing key metrics (DAU, MAU, retention rates) in ETL.
  • Proficient in SQL, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence.
  • Ability to utilize new technologies to test, build, and optimize data pipelines, transformations, and architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of data engines (e.g., Snowflake, SQL Server, MySQL, Amazon Aurora, Redshift).
  • Experience with data reporting tools (e.g., Tableau), data cataloging tools (e.g., Alation), and data logging/monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog) preferred.
  • Experience developing and managing data warehouses on a terabyte scale.
