Job Description: GIS Engineer - I

As a GIS Engineer - I, you will assist in the preparation of various GIS and Remote Sensing components for the development of EES Models. Your role includes working on large-scale GIS dataset preparation projects and ensuring the successful execution of model development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare GIS and Remote Sensing components for EES Model development.
  • Strong proficiency in GIS concepts such as Digitization, Geo-referencing, Map projections, Soil Type Classification, Image Resampling, and more.
  • Maintain physical properties like flood zones, base flood elevation, storm surge, soil, and more.
  • Collect and generate geospatial data from national, state, and regional portals.
  • Automate GIS processes and innovate Geoprocessing team workflows.
  • Analyze, validate, and present results using spreadsheets, charts, and maps.
  • Collaborate with a multi-faceted research team and assist in ensuring best GIS practices.
  • Document technical procedures for internal and client distribution.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification: B Tech, M Tech, or M.Sc. in Geo-Informatics, Geography, Remote Sensing & GIS, or Spatial Technologies.

Total Experience: 1-3 years

Must-Have Skills

  • Proficiency in ARC GIS Desktop/ArcGIS Pro, ERDAS, ENVI, IDRISI, QGIS, and Google Earth Pro.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Extensions: Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Image Analyst, and Network Analyst.
  • Strong geo-analytics and geoprocessing skills.
  • Understanding of Remote Sensing concepts.
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, and R programming languages.
  • Ability to design, develop, and maintain GIS databases and perform spatial analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills for documentation and presentations.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new technologies and strategies.

Nice-To-Have Skills

  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, C#, Open-Source GIS (QGIS, GDAL, SAGA).
  • Experience with SQL Server, C++, Matlab.
