Role Overview: Data Modelling Lead (DML)
As the Data Modelling Lead, you will be a crucial part of the Data Office Leadership team, designing the global vision and strategy for the Enterprise Data Management roadmap.
The Opportunity
This role provides leadership, strategy, and technical expertise within the Data Modelling pillar of the Enterprise Data Management function. You'll deliver global standards, guidelines, and implementation patterns that enhance the quality, consistency, and interoperability of data across EY.
The Data Modelling Lead is responsible for setting the strategic direction and communicating and reporting on various programs of work to key business and technical stakeholders, Data Office PMO, and allied working groups and Steering Committees.
You'll drive high-impact, transformational business initiatives aligned with organizational priorities through diligent program planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with EDM Leads, Data Office Leads, and internal clients to understand requirements and define a strategic roadmap.
- Align and educate stakeholders across EY on data definition, understanding, and standardization.
- Secure widespread agreement on data entities and terms, emphasizing collaborative definitions for key terms.
- Define data meaning and structure to support business needs.
- Conduct structured analysis of business data requirements, translating them into conceptual and logical data models.
- Review and collate data models to identify opportunities for consistency and interoperability.
- Promote the benefits of data modelling across EY and mentor/upskill other teams.
- Create, maintain, and explicitly document organizational knowledge about data and its movement.
- Oversee and develop data landscape, conceptual, logical, taxonomy, and ontology data models across EY.
- Lead the procurement, implementation, and integration of data modelling tools.
- Ensure appropriate data classification in collaboration with data privacy, protection, and security teams.
- Facilitate the re-use of data by providing access to data model repositories and assisting users with their organization and utilization.
- Build robust data modelling capabilities, including standards, versioning, review, and assurance.
- Contribute actively to related data disciplines such as data governance, quality, metadata management, and standards.
Skills and Attributes for Success
To qualify for this role, you must have:
- 10+ years of experience in domain, conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling for enterprise-scale systems.
- 3+ years of experience in data and metadata management, data governance, and data supply chain.
- Extensive experience with various data modelling approaches such as relational, document, dimensional, taxonomy, and ontology/graph.
- Knowledge of Data Modelling and Data Architecture tools like Sparx Enterprise Architect, Erwin, and ERStudio.
- Proven track record in delivering scalable, well-documented models on time and within budget.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- A combination of deep technical knowledge and a customer-focused mindset.
- A strong understanding of EY's business, organizational structure, and operations.
- Experience in leading teams and fostering an environment that encourages creative ideas and solutions.
- Proficiency in project management, time management, and organizational skills.
- Experience with scrum and other agile development methods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
