Your Role in Our Dynamic IT Department

As the Head of Business Intelligence, you will be responsible for owning and evolving our reporting and analysis platform to deliver enterprise-level operational reporting, management information, and insightful analytics solutions.

This crucial role involves working within a small, innovative team tasked with the continuous enhancement of our core business systems, ultimately creating significant intellectual property to set us apart in our industry. You will also drive our data and analytics strategy and establish governance processes to foster a culture of reporting self-service and data stewardship across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Capability Development

• Visionary leadership to consolidate management information and reporting onto a single business intelligence platform.
• Act as Solution Architect for reporting and analytics, prioritize and resource delivery activities aligned with business needs.
• Lead both internal and external development teams, coordinate deliverables, and communicate progress consistently across the firm.
• Define and implement a Data Governance Framework with clear metrics, ensuring ownership of all core Hayfin data sets and systems.
• Maintain the Hayfin Data Dictionary and standard catalogue of reporting and analysis services.
• Strategize reporting and analysis self-service across the firm and work with senior stakeholders to build business intelligence skills within each function.
• Develop training services and documentation to educate staff on utilizing new software or technology effectively.

Business Intelligence Solution Delivery

• Design and deliver tailored reporting solutions to meet our objectives, either as standalone changes or part of broader programmes.
• Optimize business processes using business intelligence and data tools.
• Identify data gaps or acquisition needs and align them with business priorities.
• Advise on data solution designs to enhance the business intelligence platform for performance and accuracy.
• Prototype, demonstrate, and document solutions by collaborating with our business analysts and stakeholders.
• Refine delivery methods, test automation, and QA processes for reporting and analytic solutions.
• Manage third-party development teams and act as a team lead or scrum master when necessary.
• Ensure alignment with cloud and change management processes by working with our Head of Service Management and DevOps specialist.
• Oversee unit and system acceptance testing to ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.
• Contribute to defining and maintaining our target state solution architecture and development frameworks.
• Coordinate with the Head of Service and Operations to oversee support processes and ensure proper service transition activities in all development work.

Performance and Quality

• Continuously update technical skills and knowledge by attending courses, reading manuals, and exploring new applications.
• Collaborate with internal and third-party technology teams to ensure development activities meet quality and timeliness standards, providing constructive feedback and coaching as needed.
• Balance time between developing new solutions and supporting incident and problem management efficiently.
• Act as an IT ambassador by maintaining effective communication on IT software and service delivery, and fostering strong interdepartmental relationships.

Requirements

• Expertise in leading business intelligence platforms or tools such as Qliksense, PowerBI, or Tableau.
• Proven knowledge of business intelligence concepts, data visualization, and analytic methods.
• Strong data modeling skills for designing and implementing database models optimized for reporting and analysis.
• Significant experience in business analysis and process optimization.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Azure platform, including architecture, services, and security measures.
• Solid background in data engineering, including ETL, data cleaning, data structures, and data warehousing.
