BMW Group Financial Services UK is currently seeking a dynamic Head of Data Governance, with an additional focus on Data Architecture, to join our expanding team at the modern Summit ONE Campus located in Farnborough.

About the Role

Our Data & Analytics (D&A) department plays a pivotal role within the organization, directly engaging with the Chief Financial Officer to drive our data strategy across various dimensions including data communication, change, training, analytics, management, governance, and architecture. With our team having doubled in size over the past 18 months, we are eager to welcome a Head of Data Governance who will spearhead the acceleration of our new data strategy implementation. This role promises not only leadership but also innovation in data management to unlock significant business value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic frameworks for improving data availability, quality, and reliability to enhance decision-making processes.
  • Champion data quality and governance at senior levels to secure focus and support.
  • Lead change management initiatives emphasizing the significance of robust data management and its cultural impact.
  • Define and enforce principles of data ownership and quality standards within the business sector.
  • Establish and manage a Centre of Competence in Data Management to guide data owners and stewards.
  • Select and implement cutting-edge IT tools to bolster data management and quality assessment.
  • Design future-ready Data Architectures that integrate advanced technologies such as AI and machine learning.
  • Direct a team of professionals in data management, analytics, and architecture to foster team and organizational goals.

What We Expect from You

  • Proven leadership in managing diverse data teams, preferably in financial services or regulated sectors.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record in implementing successful data management programs.
  • Deep knowledge of data management frameworks and practices, including DAMA, and tooling, preferably Informatica.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire data-themed discussions and changes.
  • Capability to establish and maintain high-level stakeholder relationships and effectively manage these engagements across all levels.
  • Experience in working in fast-paced environments and adept at balancing multiple priorities.
