The Head of Machine Learning Science will be accountable for expanding and leading a top-performing team of scientists who use avant-garde ML/AI techniques to create new discovery experiences. Your work will reach all of Wayfair's customers and will be the critical element that unites Wayfair’s platform, assisting customers in finding their ideal items while encouraging supplier behaviors and boosting Wayfair’s profitability. In this highly strategic and visible role, you will forge close connections with stakeholders across our technology and business organization, with significant exposure to executive leadership. This role presents substantial technical and leadership opportunities with enormous potential for innovation and business impact.

What You'll Do:

• Formulate the comprehensive strategy for the development of machine learning models that reshape search, personalization, and marketing channels on Wayfair’s platform.
• Promote personalization at every digital interaction point, ensuring a unique discovery experience from search to checkout.
• Establish partnerships with senior leaders across technology, product, and business units, playing a pivotal role in mapping Wayfair’s growth direction.
• Lead, mentor, and expand a team of committed machine learning professionals, setting clear goals and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

What You'll Need:

• Confirmed history in successfully directing teams of 50+ members.
• Broad experience in machine learning leadership, particularly in NLP, deep learning, personalization, recommendation systems, information retrieval, and advertising systems.
• Experience in leading and supervising the complete Machine Learning Science lifespan from inception to prototyping, testing, deploying, and measuring its overall business value.
• Proven success in leading teams in the development of quantitative models, utilizing machine learning and advanced data analysis methods.
• A strong network capable of attracting and recruiting top-notch talent.
• Ability to homogeneously control and integrate multiple workstreams.
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in a quantitative or technical work setting.
• Advanced degree (PhD) in a quantitative field such as mathematics, economics, computer science, engineering, physics, neuroscience, operations research etc., is preferred.
