We are currently looking for a Cloud Systems Engineer to join our European team to develop the next-generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.

Job Description

As a Cloud Systems Engineer, you will deploy and support large-scale edge and cloud-based systems and services, handling complex technical issues efficiently and effectively. Key duties include user communication, troubleshooting, and providing step-by-step solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Design, integrate, deploy, and maintain large cloud-based solutions, systems, and services.
  • Ensure efficient functioning of cloud operations following best practices.
  • Interact with users, providing system support, architecture definition, recommendations, implementation, testing, training, and deployment of open-source solutions.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
  • Monitor installed systems and infrastructure, addressing performance issues and maintaining the cloud system.
  • Deliver project scope quality performance indicators, including journals, status reports, and other documentation.
  • Collaborate with other companies in the cloud-edge ecosystem on international projects and open-source communities. Occasional travel and participation in international events are required.
  • Work with development teams to escalate support issues and contribute to discovery and demo sessions, alongside contributing to the open-source community.
  • Write and maintain software documentation and project reports.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in cloud systems integration and support using open-source technologies.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining Ruby code for system applications with knowledge of computing systems integration, I/O, networking, and virtualization.
  • Experience with virtualization, storage, and networking systems: KVM/QEMU, NAS, SAN, Linux networking stack, VLAN protocols, package filtering, routing protocols, Open vSwitch, and DPDK.
  • Familiarity with writing Terraform modules and managing virtualized infrastructure deployments.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools like Prometheus, including designing metrics and analyzing usage reports.
  • Understanding of Cloud Management platforms and managing virtualized infrastructures.
