Role: Data Steward
We are looking for a proactive Data Steward to join our team and oversee data governance, quality, and integrity within our organization. The successful candidate will collaborate with data owners, business units, and IT teams to ensure that data is accurately managed, classified, and maintained. This role will involve the implementation of data policies, standards, and procedures to comply with both internal and external data regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance and Stewardship
- Implement data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across the organization.
- Establish and maintain data stewardship roles and responsibilities within business units and functional areas.
- Define data standards, policies, and processes for managing data assets, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Data Quality and Integrity
- Oversee data quality initiatives to ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
- Monitor and track data quality metrics, working with teams to resolve issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and metadata repositories for data standardization and transparency.
Data Lifecycle Management
- Manage the lifecycle of critical data elements including acquisition, storage, usage, and retirement.
- Ensure data security and privacy practices are embedded in data management, aligning with company and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in creating data governance policies and procedures.
- 5+ years of experience in implementing data governance frameworks and leading data quality initiatives.
- Experience in managing databases, data architecture, or big data systems.
- Experience draftiing and managing data policies, business data processes, and glossaries.
- Solid understanding of data warehouses, ETL processes, data cleansing, and cloud architecture (Azure preferred).
- Experience with data governance tools like Collibra, Master Data Management (MDM), Informatica.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into data governance solutions.
