Job Opportunity: Staff Software Engineer at Walmart Global Tech

Position Summary:

Join us at Walmart Global Tech as a Staff Software Engineer, where you'll drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects. Identify customer and operational needs, develop and communicate business plans and priorities, and overcome barriers that impact performance. You'll provide resources, measure progress, develop contingency plans, and support continuous learning in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Development: Offer supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training, mentoring, assigning duties, and building a team-based work environment. Establish performance expectations, conduct regular evaluations, and provide recognition and rewards. Ensure diversity awareness and support continuous learning.

Policy Promotion: Promote and support company policies, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity. Train and provide direction to others, ensure compliance, and support the Open Door Policy.

Business Needs: Ensure business needs are met by evaluating the effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives. Consult with business partners, managers, and stakeholders, solicit and evaluate suggestions for improving efficiency, and participate in community outreach events.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, build, test, and deploy cutting-edge solutions at scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide.
  • Develop high-performance and scalable solutions for Spark/big data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Analyze data and processes for root cause analysis, answering specific business questions, and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines, architectures, and datasets on petabyte and terabyte scales.
  • Collaborate with Walmart engineering teams globally to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
  • Engage with Product Management and Business to drive agendas, set priorities, and deliver awesome product features.
  • Identify the right open-source tools to deliver product features through research and pilots.
  • Coach and train team members to ensure confidence in software applications.
  • Develop programs that monitor the sharing of private information to ensure software security.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of object-oriented programming experience in Python.
  • 10+ years of experience in building large-scale data pipelines using technologies like Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, Hadoop, Hive, Presto, and Airflow.
  • Strong understanding of Azure Data Factory with Databricks, file movement, and general transformation.
  • Proficiency in Azure Databricks with Database and ADLS, and exposure to GCS.
  • Experience in systems design, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Good knowledge of PySpark, Parquet, Python Framework Development, and Azure DevOps.
  • Understanding of on-premises big data technology and cloud infrastructure such as Open Stack, Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical, and analytical thinking skills.
