Your Role

As an integral part of our ZEISS Solutions Lab, your mission will be to develop bespoke automation solutions tailored to the needs of our diverse clientele, especially in the areas of light microscopy applications. These custom solutions typically include a fully automated light microscopy (LM) workflow, encompassing everything from image acquisition to sophisticated image analysis. Your efforts will primarily support quality labs across various sectors such as pharma, manufacturing, and electronics, although your innovations may benefit virtually any industry.

Teaming up with our expert data scientists, you will spearhead complete hardware automation and computer vision pipelines. This includes controlling microscopes, processing images, and conducting advanced statistical analysis and object segmentation. This role not only heightens your existing skills but also provides ample opportunities to master new techniques in deep learning and advanced software engineering.

Your Profile

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with its scientific ecosystem (e.g. numpy, matplotlib, pandas).
  • An academic background in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related STEM field, with robust programming skills and at least two years of completed studies.
  • Proficiency in either English or German.
  • A keen interest in exploring new domains.
  • The capability to work autonomously with a focus on results and outputs.
  • Excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate with customers.
  • Enjoyment in working within agile, interdisciplinary teams.

Additional qualifications that will be an asset:

  • Experience with computer vision packages like scikit-image.
  • Hands-on experience with light microscopes.
  • Prior exposure to machine learning technologies.
