The Summer Internship
At Discord, we offer a personalized experience for interns, aiming to create an ambiance that parallels working with us. We couple capable interns with projects and teams in line with their interests and abilities, and fully integrate them into these teams for the summer period. Internships are remunerated and last for a bare minimum of 12 weeks, aiming to commence in June 2024 to suit varied academic calendars. Given that conditions allow, our 2024 summer internships will be performed remotely, with a chance to spend a week in the office at some point during the course.
The Team:
The Data Engineering team at Discord cooperates with data science and engineering squads to design, construct, and upscale impactful datasets that facilitate analytics, modelling, and experimentation. These essential datasets directly feed into how we pinpoint opportunities, assess success, and guide decision crafting.
Your Role:
- Design, implement, and deploy new data pipelines and datasets to production
- Orchestrate data models coping with massive and intricate data; cultivate data knowledge to harmonize ergonomic benefits with system performance
- Interact with data science and engineering squads to comprehend product objectives and data necessities
- Establish audits to ensure data quality at a large scale, embedding alert and anomaly detection as needed
- Support fundamental data processes functioning in production
You Will Thrive in This Role If...
- You are obtaining a Bachelor's degree (upcoming Junior/Senior) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- You are highly adept in SQL, Python, or a comparable programming language
- You possess knowledge of database systems and data modelling
- You understand modern data storage and processing technologies (i.e., GCP BigQuery, Airflow, and DBT or similar)
- You have robust communication skills for cooperation with individuals and teams
Salary of $69/hour (Master's) and $78/hour (PhD)*
