An Exciting Internship Opportunity in Software Development for AI Applications

We, at BMW Group, are offering an engaging and diversified internship in software development for AI applications. Our department focuses on the integration of new technologies to drive our digitization strategy for the BMW production system. Specifically, we develop scalable, effective, and secure applications using foundation models. Our primary goal is to create platforms for efficiently delivering LLM-based applications, tailored for both direct and indirect production environments. This involves integrating various data sources, user-centric interface modeling, and establishing standards for handling foundation models.

What Awaits You?

  • Contributing to our application codebase by reviewing existing projects, writing library modules, and conducting integration tests.
  • Researching and testing various strategies for knowledge retrieval and search.
  • Adapting and aligning language models and embeddings to specific use cases using advanced prompt and fine-tuning techniques.
  • Researching, designing, implementing, and testing data preprocessing strategies.
  • Collecting and implementing customer feedback on your solutions.
  • Communicating and presenting your work and developments in the LLM area within the team and the broader AI network.

What Should You Bring Along?

  • An excellent bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, machine learning, or equivalent.
  • Experience with modern software development and tools (GitHub, IDEs, agile methods, Linux bash).
  • Strong practical experience in Python programming.
  • Solid knowledge of deep learning fundamentals and natural language processing.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major LLM open-source framework like LangChain or Llama-Index.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in German and English.
