Job Opportunity: Internal Audit Manager (Data Analytics)

Location: Santam Head Office, Cape Town

Role Overview

We are seeking a proficient Audit Manager to join our Group Internal Audit (GIA) department, specializing in Data Analytics. The successful candidate will excel in conducting data analytics to support various audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute the GIA Data Analytics and Automation Strategy.
• Ensure and maintain access to critical data sources across the Santam Group for audit analytics.
• Develop and manage common data sets required by audit teams.
• Assist in data preparation and cleansing for audit purposes.
• Create and sustain a library of automated controls testing programs.
• Develop reusable data analytics models and dashboards to enhance audit efficiency.
• Design automated controls testing solutions for continuous auditing.
• Supervise a team to implement the data analytics plan and achieve controls testing automation.
• Provide training to operational, financial, and other auditors for data analytics utilization.
• Manage analytics assignments and optimize resources to meet team objectives.
• Contribute input to audit reports based on analytics work.
• Provide input for GIA annual audit planning.

Resource & Team Management

• Lead day-to-day management and supervision of the team.
• Review audit data analytics procedures to ensure accuracy and adherence to quality control.
• Manage the Audit Data Analytics budget and resources effectively.
• Conduct performance reviews and support staff development and career planning.

Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain relationships with key data and business teams within the Santam Group.
• Stay updated on data developments impacting the organization.
• Participate in key data forums and network effectively within the Santam Group.
• Maintain client relationships and assist the Chief Audit Executive with reporting to the Board, Audit Committee, and Regulators.

Qualifications and Experience

• 8 to 10 years of experience in data analytics-related assurance and support work within a large, complex environment.
• BSc/BCom/BTech/BEng (majoring in Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics, or related fields) or similar postgraduate qualification.
• CISA, CIA, or similar certifications are advantageous.
• Proven experience in managing several assignments with competing deadlines.
• Extensive experience in data analytics, integrated audits, and providing support to non-IT auditors.
• Advanced skills in SQL, Python, and visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau.
• Internal audit experience within the insurance industry is preferred.
• Willingness to travel locally and work overtime when necessary.
