Job Description
As an IT Manager of Data Engineering who will manage the Data Platform, you will be tasked with the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the data architecture using Google Cloud Storage and the data warehouse. This role requires a profound understanding of GCS, data warehousing technologies, and the ability to lead a team in maintaining data integrity, security, and efficient accessibility.
As the IT Manager of Data Engineering, your duties will include:
- Development and execution of strategies for the usage, storage, and access of data on Google Cloud Storage
- Supervision of the design, deployment, and maintenance of the data warehouse to ensure optimal performance and scalability
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code automation technologies to construct and deploy both infrastructure and applications, such as Terraform, Ansible
- Competence in managing CI/CD integrations with GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins and deploying infrastructure and applications on GCP
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to accumulate requirements and develop solutions that meet business needs
- Leading and managing a team of data engineers and analysts, providing guidance and assistance
- Ensuring the security, integrity, and compliance of data with regulatory standards
- Enhancing data storage and access for peak performance and cost-efficiency
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in GCS, data warehousing, and cloud services
Qualifications
WHAT YOU NEED TO ATTRACT US:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- At least 8 years of experience in managing data platforms, preferably in a cloud-based environment focusing on GCS and data warehousing, along with designing, constructing, and supporting real-time and batch data pipeline and analytical solutions
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Data Warehousing and Information Management, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and relevant certifications (e.g., Google Professional Data Engineer) are a substantial plus
- Proficiency in Google Cloud Storage (GCS) and related data management tools
- Expertise in data warehouse technologies (for example, BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance necessities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with scripting and programming languages (such as SQL, Python, etc.) for data manipulation and analysis
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience in the telecom industry is desirable
- Google Cloud Platform certifications
- Experience in setting up data pipelines and ETL processes
- Familiarity with machine learning and data analytics
