The Data Infrastructure team at Coupang manages extensive Hadoop clusters, data warehouses, and orchestration platforms, ensuring efficient data processing for various Coupang services such as log analysis, recommendation, price comparison, AB testing, search indexing, advertising, and rocket delivery. Our team plays a crucial role in delivering the ultimate e-commerce experience to Coupang's customers.

Our experts handle hundreds of Hadoop clusters in cloud environments, scaling to thousands of nodes. Utilizing open-source technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Presto, Airflow, Oozie, Docker, Kubernetes, and more, we continuously enhance our platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a roadmap and vision for scalable and robust growth for the data infrastructure team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and lead engineers on key mission-critical projects.
• Design and deploy big data infrastructure architectures.
• Operate and optimize Hadoop and MPP clusters.
• Develop self-service solutions to improve cluster operational efficiency and user experience.
• Participate in business/technical improvement projects from a data platform perspective.
• Conduct research and product development in modern data engineering technology.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python.
• 15+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining large software infrastructures.
• Expertise in distributed systems such as Hadoop and Spark.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for sharing knowledge.
• Ability to automate and eliminate repetitive tasks.

Preferred:

• Experience in designing and developing data pipelines in cloud environments like AWS.

Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across various US geographic markets. Your base pay is only one part of your total compensation at Coupang.

Base pay for this position ranges from $142,000/year in the lowest geographic market to $309,000/year in the highest geographic market. Pay varies based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
