Essential Tasks

This role is designed for a Lead Data Engineer – Cloud, with a robust development background. The primary objective will be to extend our AI as a Service platform to the Public Cloud while enhancing and optimizing our existing codebase and development procedures, alongside the development of new solutions. We are in search of a strong tech leader and cloud architect with a solid foundation in public cloud and AI/ML production systems. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of practical technical knowledge and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide the team towards achieving our technical goals. They should be hands-on, proficient in cloud technologies, aware of business drivers and emerging AI/ML trends, and experienced with AWS and GCP services. The role requires an active leader who can navigate the team through uncertain times, educate stakeholders, and influence decisions. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the capability to manage complex projects and deadlines. A problem-solving mentality and a hands-on attitude are key to excel in this role.

This is a hybrid role. Hybrid employees can alternate between remote and office work. Individuals working in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (established by leadership/site), aiming to be in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ years of pertinent work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years demonstrated capacity in leading and mentoring development teams.
• 5+ years of practical experience in developing and delivering sturdy and scalable solutions on platforms like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure, preferably within a large-scale AI/ML production environment, with AI/ML model engineering experience.
• Expertise in cloud architecture and cloud service offerings such as compute, storage, databases, networking, AI, and machine learning, with skills in AWS EKS, ElasticCache, and CloudWatch.
• Experience in Cloud Big Data Services and Cloud AI/ML Solutions such as: AWS Sagemaker, Comprehend, GCP AutoML, or experience with the Ray framework.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, Golang, Java, Rust, and/or C/C++.
• Knowledge of successful design and development of data-driven real-time and batch systems.
• Deep understanding of the pros and cons of different design, architectural, and integration patterns, and strong system design skills.
• Extensive knowledge of cloud security and standard procedures for managing cloud infrastructure.

Working Hours: Varies based on the department's requirements.

Travel Requirements: This role requires between 5-10% travel time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This role will primarily be performed in an office setting.  The incumbent will need to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated range for new hires for this position is 150,900.00 to 196,200.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive compensation (if applicable). Salary can vary depending on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Furthermore, this role may be eligible for a bonus and equity.
