Role Overview: Lead Data Engineer - Data Architecture & Engineering

As a Lead Data Engineer within our Data and Analytics Practice, you will spearhead projects utilizing Microsoft Azure's toolset, especially focusing on the Synapse ecosystem. This senior role involves extensive data engineering and development expertise, particularly with Azure Synapse, including the creation and optimization of star schema models in a dedicated SQL pool.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and monitor Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Use Dynamic Management Views for monitoring purposes.
• Develop efficient data structures with Table Distribution and Index types.
• Employ partitioning strategies for large tables optimization.
• Create and enhance ingestion pipelines utilizing PolyBase and Azure Data Factory.
• Manage workload classification and resource classes.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in database design, including 2 years with Azure technologies.
• Advanced SQL knowledge, and proven experience with Synapse and related technologies.

Professional Skills:

• Strong desire to contribute in a teamwork-intensive environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
• A keen interest in continuous learning within technology and data solutions.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Data Science tools and predictive analytics, including Azure ML and R.
• Proficiency in additional Azure services like Databricks, Python, and Azure storage solutions.
• Relevant certifications are highly regarded.
