Position: Lead Azure Cloud Engineer - Data & Analytics Platform

What You Will Be Doing:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Azure Cloud Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for building scalable solutions in the Azure Platforms for our Data & Analytics Platform. You may also be expected to lead a team of junior engineers towards the successful delivery of engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical skills, leadership abilities, and excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with other IT team members.

Please note: This is not a traditional Data Engineering role. We focus on building platforms and solutions that enable Data Engineers and Scientists to achieve business goals.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage and administer the Microsoft Azure cloud environment, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance, and security.
• Design, develop, and implement highly available, multi-region solutions within Microsoft Azure.
• Analyze existing operational standards, processes, and/or governance to identify and implement improvements.
• Conduct Proof of Concepts for various vendor solutions and present final recommendations.
• Migrate existing infrastructure services to cloud-based solutions.
• Manage security and access controls for cloud-based solutions.
• Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using cloud-native tooling to ensure automated and consistent platform deployments.
• Implement policy-driven data protection best practices to safeguard cloud solutions from data loss.
• Support cloud adoption of applications undergoing transformation or modernization.
• Ensure all infrastructure components meet performance and capacity standards.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to address and resolve technical escalations.

What Your Background Should Look Like:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 4+ years of Microsoft Azure experience involving design, deployment, configuration, and optimization.
• 6+ years of experience with IaaS and PaaS solutions.
• Experience in the design and operation of medium to large-scale enterprise infrastructure, databases, and application systems.
• Experience working within an Agile framework.
• Proficiency in IaC development using Terraform, Azure CLI, Puppet, and Ansible.
• Experience with Azure PowerShell.
• Proficiency in Python, data analysis using Python, and developing Python solutions on Azure.
• Experience with C#, frameworks for applications, and solutions on Azure.
• Proficient in Windows and Linux VMs, networking, routing, and firewalls.
• Experience with various Azure services such as Azure App Services, ADF, Logic Apps, AKS, ADLS, etc.
• Proficient with GIT, ADO for source code management.
• Experience with Terraform Cloud and Azure DevOps.
• Experience with Jira and ServiceNow.
• Comprehensive knowledge of IT skills, including networking, systems administration, data protection, information security, and CI/CD tooling.
• Enthusiastic learner capable of teaching and mentoring teammates and cross-functional partners.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail.
• Azure Certifications: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Developer Associate, DevOps Engineer Expert.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of IT experience.
• Experience with administration or development using Azure Databricks and Unity Catalog.
• Further Azure Certifications: Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate.
