Lead Data Engineer

Job expired!
Healthcare is centered around conversations, with over two billion verbal exchanges happening each year between patients and their medical teams, just within the United States. However, up to 80% of these conversations are forgotten, which can lead to poorer patient outcomes. Furthermore, doctors are overwhelmed with documenting notes in their electronic medical records (EMRs), distracting them from concentrating on their patients. This is where Abridge steps in — our standalone and integrated audio-based solutions record and condense medical conversations, wherever care is provided. We’re in search of a Lead Data Engineer who can aid us in designing, constructing, and operating the necessary data platform to expand our business, which resides at the bleeding edge of generative AI in healthcare. You will be working side by side with our burgeoning team of engineers, machine learning scientists, and business associates to revolutionize our data pipeline and warehouse, power our machine learning models, and meet our increasing business intelligence demands. What You'll Do: - Lead the comprehensive design, creation, testing, and deployment of our data pipelines and warehouse, assuring its scalability, effectiveness, and data quality. - Evaluate, advise, and implement the technologies, tools, and methods we require. - Cooperate closely with machine learning scientists to comprehend data requirements and turn them into technical solutions that you will put into effect. - Help ML teams set up secure and regulatory compliant access protocols. - Guarantee the security, compliance and privacy of data through the implementation of necessary protocols and best practices. - Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data engineering and bring innovative ideas to continuously improve our data processes. - Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline and warehouse quality and performance issues, ensuring smooth operation and proactively addressing potential bottlenecks. - Document the architecture, design decisions, and processes, enabling knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization. What you'll bring: -5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer in a cloud-first organization. - Experience in building and operating data pipelines and warehouses. You may have constructed an organization’s first data pipeline or led a project to refurbish or replace a pipeline. - Understanding of governance issues and how to secure sensitive information such as PHI, PII or financial data without restricting its utility to analysts and scientists. - Up-to-date knowledge on the best practices and tools in the industry, plus a passion for learning new things. You're adept at using tools like Airbyte, Fivetran, dbt, Snowflake and BigQuery. - Enthusiasm to adopt a hands-on approach in a fast-moving, productive and supportive environment. - Willingness to contribute wherever needed -- as a fast-moving startup we need to do excellent work quickly. We appreciate individuals who are eager to learn new things, and we understand that outstanding team members may not precisely fit a job description. If you’re intrigued by the role but uncertain about whether you’re a good fit, we’d still love to hear from you. Life at Abridge At Abridge, we’re fueled by our mission to bring understanding and follow-through to every medical conversation. Our culture is rooted in doing things the “inverse” way in a legacy system—focusing on patients, not the system; focusing on outcomes, not billing; and focusing on the end-user experience, not a hospital administrator's mandate. Abridge employees are engineers, scientists, designers, and health policy experts from diverse backgrounds—an experiment in alchemy that helps us transform an industry dominated by EHRs and enterprise into a consumer-driven experience, one recording at a time. We believe in strong ideas loosely held, and put a high value on a growth mindset. We challenge each other to evolve and expose each other to the latest in our respective fields. Whether it’s conducting a PhD-level deep dive into understanding fairness and underlying bias in machine learning models, debating the merits of a Scandinavian design philosophy in our UI/UX, or writing responses for Medicare rules to influence U.S. health policy, we prioritize sharing our findings across the team to help each other succeed. Abridge is an equal opportunity employer. Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of what we do. We actively welcome applicants from all backgrounds (including but not limited to race, gender, educational background, and sexual orientation).
