Job Description: Lead Data Scientist

As a Lead Data Scientist within our Data Solutions team, you will drive innovation in AI and Machine Learning across high-performance computing environments, directly impacting our engineering and scientific computing efforts. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of experimental fusion energy by:

  • Developing AI tools for simulation and data analysis on major fusion devices like JET and MAST-U.
  • Enhancing data science capabilities through novel AI and Machine Learning approaches.
  • Collaborating across teams and with external partners to maintain leadership in Exascale computing.

Qualifications

Essential: You must hold a doctorate in a computational, mathematical, or physical science discipline or possess equivalent experience, along with proficiency in compiled or advanced scripting languages and experience with UNIX systems.

Desirable: Experience in project management, ability to travel, and active participation in professional communities are highly valued.
