About This Role

As a Lead Data Scientist, you'll be part of our in-house Tech team that includes over 5,000 software engineers, data scientists, and product managers. Our team uses agile practices and open-source software to bring best-in-class technology to Target’s guests and team members. This role involves designing and deploying advanced predictive algorithms that optimize decisions across Marketing, Supply Chain, and Personalization efforts.

Your Impact

Your expertise in machine learning, statistical models, or other quantitative fields will drive the design and implementation of complex data systems that enhance Target’s technological capabilities. Expect to engage with Data Sciences teams, Product teams, and business partners, bringing transformative solutions that influence strategic decisions.

You'll also have the opportunity to mentor junior team members, boost our technological prowess, and speak on behalf of your team's achievements and objectives to different stakeholders across Target.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A minimum of a 4-year degree in Quantitative disciplines (Science, Tech, Engineering, Mathematics) and 6+ years of professional or industry-equivalent experience.
• Deep expertise in Python, SQL, and Hadoop/Hive; familiarity with Spark, Scala, R, or Java is a plus.
• Advanced understanding and application of mathematical and statistical concepts.
• A track record in applied ML, recommendation systems, or information relevance systems is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Work Setup: This position offers a Hybrid/Flex arrangement allowing you to work both onsite at our Target HQ in Minnesota and remotely. to learn more about working in Minnesota.
