About the Role

As a member of our founding engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our product, culture, and growth. Reporting directly to our CEO, Daniel Brady, who holds a PhD in Neurobiology and has a decade of experience building data science teams, you will collaborate with talented teams to enhance our self-service platform and drive product innovation.

Responsibilities

• Lead product and feature development efforts, aligning with business objectives
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to team members
• Act as the primary engineering contact for our Founding Product Manager
• Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate new features and enhancements
• Design, implement, test, deploy, and iterate on end-to-end features for both frontend and backend
• Create intuitive dashboards and user interfaces
• Establish data feeds for machine learning models and ensure actionable outputs
• Produce clean, well-structured code with detailed specifications and documentation
• Maintain code quality, organization, automation, and continuous delivery

• Proven experience in an engineering leadership role with a strong project management track record
• Experience building and maintaining web applications from scratch
• 6+ years of industry experience in backend development
• Strong knowledge of Python, Flask, SQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and React.js
• 5+ years in frontend development
• Experience as the primary engineering point of contact for a product team
• Strong system design skills with experience in building scalable systems
• Proven software engineering capabilities, including test-driven development
• Ability to deliver high-quality, performance-oriented code
• Strong sense of responsibility and ownership over projects, with a focus on solving problems and shipping impactful features
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Bonus points for candidates with experience in:

• Building data-intensive applications
• Previous CTO or Founding Engineer roles in startups

Work Location

This position is mainly remote, though ideally, candidates will be located near NYC, LA, or the San Francisco Bay Area. Please note that our entire team is expected to come together at least a few times per year.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $240,000 based on experience. Orita offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
