Position: Lead Site Reliability Engineer - Finance Technology

As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, you will play a leadership role in your team. You will bring a wealth of knowledge across multiple technical domains and provide guidance on both technical and business issues. Key responsibilities include conducting resiliency design reviews, breaking down complex problems for other engineers, acting as a technical lead for medium to large-sized products, and offering mentorship to your colleagues.

Job Responsibilities

• Promote and uphold site reliability culture and practices while exerting technical influence within your team.
• Spearhead initiatives to enhance the reliability and stability of applications and platforms using data-driven analytics.
• Collaborate with team members to identify service level indicators and establish service level objectives and error budgets with stakeholders.
• Exhibit a high level of technical expertise in one or more domains and proactively resolve technology-related bottlenecks.
• Serve as the main point of contact during major incidents for applications and quickly resolve issues to prevent financial losses.
• Document and share knowledge within the organization via internal forums and communities of practice.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering using Spark, AWS, and Python/Java programming.
• Extensive expertise in reliability, scalability, performance, security, enterprise system architecture, and toil reduction, with the ability to apply these practices effectively.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java Spring Boot, or .Net.
• Deep understanding of software applications and technical processes with emerging depth in one or more technical disciplines.
• Experience in observability practices, including white and black box monitoring, SLO alerting, and telemetry collection using tools like Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, and Splunk.
• Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous delivery tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform).
• Experience with container and container orchestration technologies (e.g., ECS, Kubernetes, Docker).
• Ability to troubleshoot common networking technologies and issues.
• Ability to solve complex data structures and algorithm-related problems.
• Keen on self-education and evaluating new technology.
• Capability to teach new programming languages to team members.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across different levels and stakeholder groups.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Experience in the banking domain.
• Code-level experience.
