Position Overview
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be a pivotal member of an agile team, enhancing, building, and delivering market-leading technology products securely, stably, and scalably. As a key technical contributor, you'll work on crucial technology solutions across multiple technical domains, supporting the firm’s business goals.
Job Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Executing innovative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting while thinking beyond conventional approaches.
- Developing secure, high-quality production code and reviewing and debugging code written by others.
- Identifying opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability.
- Leading evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive effective architectural designs.
- Driving the implementation and adoption of new and leading-edge technologies across Software Engineering communities.
- Contributing to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5+ years of development experience in a big data environment.
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced expertise in object-oriented programming languages such as Scala, Java, or Python.
- Proficiency in building real-time streaming applications using Apache Spark Streaming, Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, etc., for large-scale data processing.
- Experience with open-source frameworks/libraries like Apache Airflow.
- Strong skills in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
- Expertise in cloud-native architecture, design, and implementation across all systems.
- Competence in Event Driven Architecture and Application Containerization.
- Experience building applications on Public Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), with a preference for AWS.
- Proficiency in utilizing emerging cloud serverless managed services to reduce physical/virtual server footprint.
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Additional qualifications include:
- Proficiency in designing and developing data pipelines using Databricks Lakehouse.
- Experience re-engineering and migrating on-premises data solutions to and for the public cloud.
- Ability to implement security solutions for data storage and processing in the public cloud.
- Understanding of traditional big data systems like Hadoop, Impala, Sqoop, Oozie, Cassandra, Hive, and HBase.
