Meta Reality Labs is on the hunt for a skilled Lead Computer Vision Engineer to spearhead the development of synthetic data generation and simulation for our innovative AR/VR products, including the popular Quest line. This pivotal role is crucial in shaping next-generation AR/VR interaction technologies through a collaborative effort within a dynamic, cross-functional team.

Role Overview

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will leverage your deep expertise in computer vision, synthetic data, and AI-based image generation to enhance ML models integral to our AR/VR products. Working alongside experts in software, infrastructure, machine learning, and AI image generation, you will drive projects from conceptualization to execution. This role involves hands-on contributions to synthetic image generation, exploring and innovating with novel technologies, and pushing the boundaries of image realism and diversity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tech lead for the development and launch of computer vision and machine learning solutions.
  • Strengthen cross-functional collaborations with teams in research, simulation, data systems, and AI.
  • Advance our capabilities in synthetic image generation through cutting-edge models and simulations.
  • Engage in strategic planning, set objectives (OKRs), and co-create the roadmap for the synthetic data sub-team.
  • Contribute to the recruitment, mentoring, and development of new talent within the team.
  • Liaise with Meta leadership and teams to align business requirements with technical solutions.
  • Optimize ML models for enhanced performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven technical expertise in Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Image Processing, and Computer Vision.
  • Experience in developing algorithms using platforms like Pytorch and TensorFlow.
  • Minimum 5 years of technical leadership in large-scale R&D projects.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and lead projects independently.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong publication record in eminent conferences (CVPR, NeurIPS, etc).
  • Professional experience in AR/VR technologies, computer graphics, and image processing.

Compensation

Compensation for this position ranges from $177,008 to $251,000/year, which includes base salary, bonuses, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
