Job Description: LOGCOP Data Engineer

Join our team as a LOGCOP (Logistics Common Operating Picture) Data Engineer, providing top-tier technical expertise and support to the Joint Staff Chief Data Officer (CDO). Your key role will involve designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, databases, and systems that facilitate efficient and accurate data collection, integration, and analysis for the LOGCOP initiative. This role demands proficiency in data engineering principles, various programming and data management tools, and stellar collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines to manage large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Optimize data pipelines for peak performance and reliability, addressing potential bottlenecks and failure points.
• Develop and maintain databases and data warehouses, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.
• Regularly tune, index, and optimize databases for high performance and efficiency.
• Integrate data from diverse sources, including legacy systems, APIs, and real-time streams, into a unified environment.
• Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to cleanse, transform, and load data.
• Establish and enforce data quality standards and best practices for data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Collaborate with the Joint Staff CDO on data governance policies and procedures.
• Support data scientists and analysts to develop analytical models and reports.
• Create and maintain dashboards and visualizations to provide actionable insights.
• Work with cross-functional teams to align data engineering efforts with organizational goals.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, database management, or a related field.
• Experience with cloud platforms and big data technologies is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, C++, Java, or Scala.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with database design and optimization.
• Knowledge of data warehousing solutions (e.g., Panoply, Redshift).
• Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., macOS, Windows, Linux, UNIX).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Security Clearance

Must have active TS and eligible SCI at the time of hire and before onboarding.

Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Top Secret SCI

Salary Range: $96,400.00 - $168,700.00
